Ellenbrook's longest running Newspaper
Windows on Ellenbrook began in 1996 as an A4 paper with a green cover called Woodlake Windows, Woodlake was the only Village at this time (and for those that have lived in Ellenbrook for a while will know it was the only form of communtication, no commercial paper would deliver to Ellenbrook.) The Woodlake Windows become the Windows on Ellenbrook, and moved to A3 in 1999, it was printed by Whiteman Park Print on the old printing press, it was great to see the old press working.
In June 2004 the Windows went digital and introduced the two colour front page in Feburary 2005 and by May had introduced Colour by July the paper had several Colour pages, this saw the windows leave Whiteman Park Press as it had out grown the abilities of the old presses.
The Windows produced a monthly edition for all these years thanks to the dedication and hard work of Volunteers under the guidance of a number of editiors, In early 2009 the Windows struggled with Volunteers to produce the monthly paper but thanks again to the dedication of the team of volunteers and the presistance of Rod the Windows is in Full production.
We want to ensure that Windows remains your strong voice in your community and therefore we need your input. Please address Letters to the Editor through my email address and tell us what you think about Windows, issues we could pursue on your behalf ie. Facilities, power supplies, transport, roads, Government promises (or failure of). We are happy to explore some of these and we want your views. If necessary the Woodlake Community Association which is open to membership from all residents of Ellenbrook will take action to pursue these matters and hold public meetings where warranted to try and get answers and force action. Woodlake Community Association is not just for residents of Woodlake but can represent all members in whichever villages they reside.
On this website you will see a link to our Facebook pages and we encourage you to use them. Also you will be able to view current editions of Windows on line.
Hope you enjoy this edition and please encourage others to share articles and support us with advertising. The Windows on Ellenbrook is owned by the Woodlake Residents Association, and enables the association to support many not for profit groups within Ellenbrook and schools.
EDITORIAL COMMITTEE 2010
We now have an enthusiastic Editorial Committee and the members of the Committee, as well as being residents of Ellenbrook, The Vines and Aveley, come from occupations in journalism, public relations, business and community. We would welcome submission of articles of local interest and advertising by local businesses. The advertising rates are lower than other newspapers circulating here and the profits stay in Ellenbrook for distribution to not for profit organizations and schools rather than the money leaving Ellenbrook. Advertisers are therefore recognized for their desire to support the community that supports them
